Developed by TASCAM and Frontier Design Group, the US-428 provides the means of getting professional standards of 24-bit audio digital audio in and out of your computer, with hands-on control of audio software, using real faders and controls for mixing, recording and sequencing.

 

All of this is effected with the connection of just a single USB cable that carries all the audio and control data. No sound card, no opening up the computer. Best of all, no more laboriously moving virtual faders and controls around the screen with a mouse.

 

The US-428 provides a choice of either two balanced mic/line XLRs or two balanced mic/line 1/4 inch jack analogue inputs- utilising 24-bit ADCs. Both these and the two 24-bit DAC analogue outputs can support either individual stereo or mono signal transfer, at either 16-bit or 24-bit resolution. Two S/PDIF digital I/Os are also provided on the unit's rear panel. Signal clocking can be either internal or from incoming digital signal source.

 

The unit enables four channels and a stereo bus mix to be mixed to the host computer via the USB connection. The eight channel faders are mappable to a bank of eight virtual faders on the computer software package, while a bank switch enables them to map to an alternative virtual eight fader group. A master fader, assignable encoders and various assignable switches are also included. The unit supports any combination of 16-bit, 24-bit, 44.1kHz or 48kHz operation. The eight faders can also accommodate any required number of MIDI channels, by means of the bank switching feature.
