Mr Texas strener inn

i butikken der de store varebilene, kombibilene og minibussene står rundt

salgskonsulent Olsen. Sånne teite samtaler foregår jo alltid på engelsk.

 

 

Mr Texas sier: ”I

want a new van , a big one , not a minivan ”

 

 

Olsen forstår han

mener et kjøretøy med mer enn 6 seter. Han aner hva som kommer og begynner klok

av skade meget forsiktig: How many seats

Texas: Oh, my wife will be driving kids around let me have 8 seats. Mr Olsen: we don`t have that. Mr Texas kikker inn i

en av bilene og sier noe indignert: But this car has 10 seats in it! Just take

out two, and I will take it. Mr Olsen: You see, Mr Texas, this car is

a minibus, and to be a minibus, it has to have at least 10 seats. If you take

out two seats, it becomes a personcar, and the price will be more than the

double. Besides, if you want to drive the minibus, you need to take a special

driving licence. But you have two folding seats in the van, so in reality you

have only eight seats. Mr Texas looks around: So you are telling me that me and my wife must have

new driving licence to drive a 10 seater car with space for 8 people. Mr Olsen:

Yes. But we have other solutions: You could buy a kombi Mr Texas, a kombi is

a van with 5 or six seats, and a wall, and it costs nothing more than a bus!

 

 

Mr Texas: But I want

8 seats. Can you move that wall back so I can have two rows of seats? Mr Olsen:

You see, Mr Texas, this is actually a commercial van taxed lower than a

personcar, but for it to kombi, it needs to have space behind the wall for a

box 1.70 meters long, in more than 50% of the length of the cargo area. So if you want an eight

seater kombi you will have to settle for extremely small seats, or find a car

about 7meters long.

 

 

Mr Texas: My Cadillac

Limo in Houston is a little shorter than that. But hey, what about that camping

car?

 

 

It looks nice, with a seating arangement

that could seat 8 persons in there.

 

 

Mr Olsen: Well you see, it is only a four

seater, because the number of seats you can register a camping van for, is

dependent on how many people that can sleep in it. So this camper sleeps 4

people, so you can only be four persons. But remember that it is forbidden to

stay in the beds while you are driving.

 

 

Mr Texas: So the

number of seats in this car is dependent on the number of beds. Sounds weirder

than King Crimson to me….. Do you have a

price list on this van? Mr Olsen: Yes, but I have to explain…The van X with

turbodiesel and two seats cost 220.000 kr. The same van X as a kombi 5 seater

costs 280.000kr. The same van X as a 8 seater personcar costs about 500.000kr.

Then you can have the 4 seater camper for about 330.000kr and of course you can

have the minibus 10 seater for 270.000kr + the 4000kr for two driving licenses.

 

 

Mr Texas: So ten seats are cheaper than 5

seats, and 8 seats is twice as expensive as 5 seats, and the basic van costs

220.000kr witch is about 30.000 USD and for that I could buy a brand new

Cadillac Eldorado back home. I thought you had a Christian prime minister in Norway,

but these prices must have been made in hell….Can I buy a van and 6 seats and put them in when I need them?

 

 

Mr Olsen: No then we would have to register

the car as a personcar, and the price would be 500.000kr.

 

 

Mr texas: And what is the purpose of these

tax rules?

 

 

Mr Olsen : I wish I knew…. It has something

to do with the fact that having a car in Norway is

a luxury and it pollutes so the taxes should be high….

Jeg kunne ønske det gikk ann å måle hvor absurd ting var, og at om det overskred en viss prosentdel av hvor absurd man kunne tillate seg ting å bli, så ble det konsekvent lovstridig å gjennomføre/innføre.
