Chrysler Firepower – Based on the Dodge Viper platform but powered by the 425-horsepower, 6.1-liter Hemi V8 and five-speed automatic transmission from the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, this stunning Chrysler concept car could signify a new <i> gran turismo </i> designed to raise Chrysler’s brand equity in the world marketplace.

 

Firepower is a working title – it’s owned by another company, so this grand-touring concept will be renamed at its debut in Detroit. Regardless, it’s easy to see that this is a viable production model, sharing the Viper’s wheelbase and major architectural hard points but coming in about three inches shorter than Dodge’s supercar. Suspension tuning is on the softer side, leaving outright handling to the Viper, but the Firepower rides on Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 275/35R19 in front and 335/30R20 in back, stopped by 14-inch Brembo brakes at each corner.

 

Styling combines the scoops of the Viper with the strakes of the Crossfire, resulting in a muscular, lean, but slightly gaudy appearance that is not helped by the chrome-garnished Chrysler grille in the front. The roof is tinted glass, tapering down to the rear where a hatchback makes loading bags for a weekend jaunt up the coast that must easier.

 

Inside, leather, buffed aluminum, and piano-black trim rule a two-tone cabin with an impossibly white steering wheel rim. Yet, despite its bejeweled appearance, the Chrysler Firepower is a gorgeous machine. Let’s hope it sees the light of day sometime in the future.

Så faktisk en litt eldre model her om dagen på en bensin stasjon uten for Drammen, jeg fikk ikke stoppet og glant nøye på den den men den så tøff ut på litt avstand i hvertfall.
